DR. Cory Zeller
As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, my goal is to provide safe, effective, and inclusive care to individuals throughout the Pacific Northwest. With a decade of nursing experience in emergency medicine and psychiatry, my treatment approach prioritizes therapeutic listening and individualized medication management that considers the “whole picture.” I believe that mental health care is most effective when it honors the whole person, fostering not only symptom relief but also a deeper connection to the relationships, activities, and passions that bring us joy.
Prior to joining the team at Upwell Psychiatry, I was the lead practitioner of an esketamine (Spravato) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) clinic treating individuals with severe, treatment-resistant mental health conditions. I believe strongly in the power of community in supporting mental wellness, and enjoy working with neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals.
Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or simply looking to cultivate greater balance and well-being in your life, I’d be glad to partner with you on your mental health journey!
Get to Know Cory:
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I spend most of my personal time exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. As an avid backpacker, snow-shoer, kayaker, and paddle boarder, I feel most at home beneath the canopy of the Cascades or on the open water. There is no better place to experience nature than in the ‘Upper Left!’
In addition to time spent in the great outdoors, I enjoy reading, crossword puzzling, cooking/baking, traveling abroad, and exploring local markets where I can support the many small businesses that are the heartbeat of Vancouver and Portland.
What personal experiences or beliefs most influence your approach to psychiatric care and how you connect with clients?
Collaboration is the key to a healthy working relationship between any client and practitioner. I utilize a supportive, trauma-informed approach to care that encourages self-growth while respecting client autonomy. Curiosity is a great thing, and asking questions is integral to the care process. So, ask away! Come as you are, and we will work together towards meeting your mental health goals.
What is your favorite method for managing your own mental health and well-being?
I consider mindfulness and meditation to be powerful techniques that are essential to my daily routine. I find comfort in both stillness and movement, and believe that finding a “rhythm” to life is an essential part of being human. I enjoy working with clients to identify wellness practices within their own lives that best support a healthy mind-body connection.
