Dr. Katharine Frissora, DNP, PMHNP-BC

I am a doctorally prepared Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 15 years of healthcare experience. I aim to promote holistic mental health by partnering with you to create healing and wellness.

I have enjoyed practicing in a variety of settings across several states.

My past experience includes:

● Assessment and treatment of patients in inpatient and emergency settings

● Caring for patients with severe mental illness in community health

● Directing and developing post-graduate training programs for nurse practitioners

● Servings as faculty for a school of medicine

I use an integrative psychiatry approach to better understand the underlying cause of symptoms and support you in your mental health.

Integrative psychiatry is an individualized approach that combines both functional medicine and traditional psychiatry to determine and treat the source of imbalances that are impacting your health.

My Philosophy

I recognize the inherent relationship between the mind and body and may recommend supplements, lifestyle changes, therapies, and/or prescribe medication. Using empathy, education, humor, and sincerity I work with you to develop a treatment plan to help you reach your goals and meet your specific needs.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

In my time outside of work, I enjoy connecting with others and focusing energy into the things that bring me joy, which include the arts (visual, music, dance, theatre), yoga, reading and traveling.

What personal experiences or beliefs most influence your approach to psychiatric care and how you connect with clients?

I operate with the understanding that we (humans) are all doing the best we can at any given moment. Each of us is the best expert of our own bodies and come with a vast range of experiences that influence our present. I believe that compassion of oneself and each other is a medicine we could all use a little more of.

What is your favorite method for managing your own mental health and well-being?

My self practices that promote my own mental health and wellness rely heavily on connection, movement, and art. Consequently, the things we love can also be the things that help us to thrive.
