Heather Webster, PMHNP, ARNP, CNM
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
(she/her)
Hello, I’m Heather- a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Upwell with over two decades of experience in healthcare, including bedside nursing and midwifery. Throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand the power of compassionate, personalized care and the profound impact that strong therapeutic relationships can have on healing and growth. I approach every person with curiosity and deep respect for their identity, culture, and lived experience, striving to create a warm and affirming space where you can show up as you are.
I am passionate about partnering with people who care deeply for others and feel a strong responsibility to make the world a better place—yet often struggle to prioritize their own self-care. Over the years, I have supported many clients through times of change and growth, helping them reconnect with their inner compass and find strength in their own stories. My approach is rooted in collaboration, respect, and honoring each person’s unique path toward healing. If you’re looking for compassionate care that helps you feel grounded, empowered, and truly seen, I invite you to schedule an appointment and begin your journey.
My Philosophy
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective mental health care. Authenticity and genuineness foster a safe, trusting environment that supports exploration, healing, and growth. I approach each client as a unique individual, considering personal identity, cultural background, family history, and environmental influences.
I believe everyone seeks a life of purpose, value, and fulfillment, and my practice focuses on helping individuals connect with their strengths and identify pathways to thrive. My approach to treatment is personalized and holistic, integrating evidence-based options for medication management, lifestyle interventions, alternative approaches, and supportive therapies to promote lasting mental wellness and improved quality of life.
What personal experiences or beliefs most influence your approach to psychiatric care and how you connect with clients?
I combine both lived experience and clinical training to provide care that truly meets you where you are. Seeing the impact of mental illness and addiction in my own family taught me the power of resilience and healing; and how prioritizing your mental wellbeing can create a ripple effect of positive change in your life and relationships.
Life is overwhelming—balancing work, family, relationships, and personal demands can leave you stressed, exhausted, or pulled in too many directions, and that can really take a toll. Together, we can create space to focus on your goals for well-being and regain a sense of balance and control in your life. As both a psychiatric nurse practitioner and midwife, I look at the whole person, considering the role that physical health, hormones, and life stressors might be affecting a person.
I am an activist and believe many of our systems need to change in order for our nervous systems to fully heal. Acknowledging the importance of safety, security, and equity when it comes to mental health is the foundation of my practice.
What are some of your hobbies? What are some of your favorite methods for managing your own mental health and well-being?
I try not to take myself or life too seriously and take opportunities to be silly and adventurous with my family. I enjoy having unfettered time that lends itself to long walks and talks with friends that get deep and existential, and maybe kind of weird. I love varying forms of art and movement, and am always up for impromptu road trips and finding places that calm and inspire. I am a life-long learner and try to remain curious when it comes to new opportunities for personal growth and expanding my world view.
